Dukes came to WESH 2 News in August 1997. She traveled to central Florida from her home state of New Hampshire, where she worked as the morning and noon anchor at WMUR-TV in Manchester. Amanda comes from a large family and was born the youngest of eight children in Salem, Massachusetts. She attended middle and high school in Bedford, N.H. Amanda received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Troy State University in Troy, Ala.

She has earned numerous professional awards, like the Associated Press Best Spot News award for tracking down two of New Hampshire’s top 10 deadbeat dads. Amanda is also an accomplished political reporter; she was part of the WMUR-TV team that covered New Hampshire’s presidential primaries in 1992 and 1996. Amanda was also part of the team that won a Columbia Dupont award for coverage of the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy, as well as an Edward R. Murrow regional award for her reporting on the Casey Anthony trial. Most recently, Amanda won an Emmy for her reporting on the tragic shooting death of an Orlando Police Officer at a local Walmart.

Her most memorable experiences at WESH 2 News include covering the wildfires of 1998, spending a month on the road in West Palm Beach and Tallahassee covering the 2000 post-election battles, and being right on the coast as hurricanes Jeanne and Frances hit in 2004. She will also never forget the challenging days she spent field anchoring WESH 2 News’ live coverage of the Casey Anthony trial from outside the Orange County courthouse.

Amanda has worked on the boards of several non-profit groups like J4 Leaders and Summit Church beside the Christian Service Center and Samaritan Village. She is also a proud graduate of life work leadership in Orlando.
