Bruce DePrest Biography and Wiki

Bruce DePrest is an American Chief Meteorologist currently serving at WFSB. His role is to provide Connecticut’s most-accurate live weather updates and forecasts from the Early Warning Forecast Center every weeknight on Eyewitness News at 5, 6, and 11.

However, Bruce DePrest, the chief meteorologist at WFSB-TV, announced in July 2021, that he will be working part-time at the station. He has been with WFSB since 1984 and has been the chief meteorologist since 2002. Deprest made the announcement through a Facebook Live video with his colleagues Mark Zinni and Erin Connolly.

Bruce will no longer be handling Channel 3’s 11 p.m. weather reports, but he will continue to report on the weather for the channels 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts. He joked that he will finally get a chance to go home at a regular hour and get a good night’s sleep.

DePrest has been working in the industry for 42 years straight and has a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Lowell University. He said that he is not retiring, but he is looking forward to slowing down a bit.
