Christopher Ilitch is the president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, Inc., a holding company that provides services to businesses founded or acquired by Mike and Marian Ilitch. Little Caesars Pizza, Olympia Entertainment, MotorCity Casino Hotel, the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball, the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League, and numerous real estate holdings are all Ilitch companies.

Before joining his family’s business, Ilitch worked briefly at IBM. Before returning to Detroit, he was in charge of a Little Caesars restaurant in Walled Lake, Michigan, and later of a number of Chicago-area establishments. In 2000, Ilitch and his sister Denise Ilitch were named co-leaders of Ilitch Possessions. In 2004, Denise resigned, and Christopher was appointed sole CEO.

Little Caesars Pizza, Blue Line Distribution, the Detroit Red Wings, Olympia Entertainment, the Detroit Tigers, Olympia Development of Michigan (real estate), Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraising Program, and Champion Foods are all under Ilitch’s direction as president and CEO. Additionally, the company owns a joint venture stake in 313 Presents. MotorCity Casino Hotel is also owned by Marian Ilitch, Christopher’s mother. A casino cannot be owned or operated by a baseball club owner or officer under Major League Baseball rules. In 2006, baseball’s chief operating officer Bob DuPuy said that the arrangement was okay because Christopher and Marian don’t have any stakes in the casino or the Tigers.

As a member of the Red Wings’ management for the NHL Championships in 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008, Ilitch has his name engraved on the Stanley Cup. The chairman of Ilitch Charities is Ilitch. Business Leaders for Michigan, the Downtown Detroit Partnership, and the Detroit Economic Club all have him on their boards of directors. Additionally, Ilitch is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization’s Detroit chapter.

The 2009 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, the 2005 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, and Super Bowl XL all had Ilitch on their host committees. He co-chaired the 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament at Ford Field in Detroit with William Clay Ford Jr.
