Da L.E.S Mandela Money

He released his second studio album, Mandela Money, on July 4, 2014. It is his first album to be released by Fresh 2 Def Productions, and Sony Music Entertainment Africa has signed a distribution deal for it. After the commercially successful single “Heaven,” which features guest verses from fellow South African hip hop recording artists AKA and Maggz, recording sessions for the album began.

He established Fresh 2 Def Productions, a record label and publishing house, with the R1 million cash prize he received from Tropika in 2013. He stated that former South African President Nelson Mandela was the inspiration for the album, citing his motivation to “Reach higher heights in order to have my face on money one day.” The album was made by him to inspire young Africans to work toward success. To promote the release of his sophomore studio album, his first solo release in more than five years since 2008’s Fresh 2 Def, he embarked on a Mandela Money tour in South Africa.

Da L.E.S North God

He released his third studio album, North God, on November 27, 2015, via Fresh 2 Def Records and Sony Music Entertainment Africa. After the release of his sophomore album Mandela Money in 2014, recording sessions for the album began. The Cashtime Life hip hop collective’s Ma-E and Kid X, as well as South African DJ Dimplez, are said to have joined Da L.E.S. in the studio. On November 13, 2015, the album was made available for pre-order on iTunes and officially released on November 27, 2015.

Da L.E.S held a concert and album release party at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg on December 3, 2015.
