David Horak Biography and Wiki
David Horak, is News 8’s newest Kalamazoo Bureau reporter and Michigan native who’s so excited to be back in his home state that he’s been doing cartwheels ever since he got the job.
Before joining the team, David was a news anchor at a West Virginia station where he won an Associated Press award for his story on a coal miner singing the national anthem during a safety meeting. We’re not sure if it was David’s journalistic skills or the miner’s singing voice that won the award, but we’re betting it was a little bit of both.
David is a proud graduate of Valparaiso University, where he played football and was involved with the school’s student-run radio and TV stations. He’s also a lover of all things local, from craft beer to weightlifting to sports teams (especially Valparaiso, Michigan State, and the Detroit pro franchises). In fact, he loves Michigan sports so much that he’s been known to wear a Lions jersey on a date – and not just any date, a first date. Talk about commitment!
When he’s not chasing stories or rooting for his favorite teams, David can be found singing, playing the piano, and discovering new music. We’re not sure if he’s any good, but we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt – after all, he did win that AP award, and he’s a Michigander through and through.
