Deepak Chopra Yoga
In April 2010, Aseem Shukla, the co-founder of the Hindu American Foundation, attacked Deepak for claiming that yoga’s roots were in an ancient Indian spiritual tradition rather than in Hinduism.
Deepak later claimed that the origin of yoga was “awareness alone,” which was preached by Vedic rishis long before the development of traditional Hinduism.
Aseem, according to him, had a “fundamentalist objective.” In response, Aseem said that Deepak was a master of the technique known as “How to Deconstruct, Repackage, and Sell Hindu Philosophy Without Calling it Hindu!” and that his use of the word fundamentalism was an attempt to derail the discussion.
