Dina Bair Biography

Dina Bair, an Emmy award-winning journalist, is currently anchoring WGN Midday News and also serving as the medical reporter for the “Medical Watch” segments on WGN Midday News, WGN Evening News and WGN News at Nine. She joined WGN-TV in September 1994 as a full-time general assignment reporter and anchored the WGN Weekend Morning News from December 1994 to December 1999.

In 2013, Dina covered the election of the new Pope, and reported live from Vatican City after traveling to Italy.

Before joining WGN-TV, Dina was an anchor and reporter at CLTV in Oak Brook, worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer at WHOI-TV in Peoria, and also worked at WMAQ-TV in Chicago as a field producer.

Dina has won numerous awards, including nine Emmy awards, a Peter Lisagor award from the Society of Professional Journalists, and multiple Associated Press awards for anchoring and reporting. She was also named a Fellow by the National Press Foundation for the “Cancer Issues” seminar in Washington D.C. Her news series and documentary, “Intensive Caring,” which detailed the cutting-edge medical treatments and life and death decisions at Children’s Memorial Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, won awards for its news and documentary coverage.

Dina received her B.S. in Radio-TV-Film from Northwestern University in Evanston, and is originally from the East Coast. She has four children and is a tri-athlete who enjoys running, boxing, lifting weights, and competitive ballroom dancing.
