Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa Divorce

When a South African tabloid, Sunday World, reported in 2014 that Maphumulo had allegedly cheated on Mlotshwa with a local model and that a woman from the Free State region was behind the allegations and was demanding R100 000 from Maphumulo after acquiring a sex tape that supported her claims, the couple became a major news story. The DJ admitted to the affair in August 2018, explaining that it was brought on by “being young and being overwhelmed by fame.”

In June of 2019, the couple was involved in yet another cheating scandal. This time, it was caused by an Instagram post by Cathy Guetta, the ex-wife of David Guetta, a fellow DJ and collaborator. Social media users claimed that this was evidence of the DJ’s continued infidelity. The couple did not immediately respond to the rumors as a result of this; Enhle, on the other hand, was discovered to have deleted all of her Instagram photos of the couple together. Later, Maphumulo took to Twitter to deny the allegations and make a comment about the “lynch-mob mentality” of the users who spread them.

The couple split up in July 2019 and filed for divorce later that year. In 2020, the divorce proceedings continued, bringing with them additional scandals. This included the publication of a set of leaked documents that allegedly showed some of Mlotshwa’s financial demands.

Enhle Mbali claimed that her ex-husband assaulted her at her birthday dinner and requested a protection order against him. The allegations were made at a time when public outrage over South Africa’s extremely high rates of gender-based violence (GBV) was widespread. While reminiscing about the GBV he witnessed in his own family as a child, the DJ denied the assault claims. DJ Mbali announced on May 7, 2021, via Twitter, that the South African Court had ruled in his favor, vacating the interim protection order and dismissing his case. He said in an Instagram post that was later deleted that he would abide by the requirements of the interim order but would oppose its permanent implementation.
