Brown moved to WCCO in October of 2012 after two years of reporting and working at WNYW, a Fox affiliate in New York City. In the Big Apple, She primarily covered New York City public schools but had the opportunity to report on breaking news, the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, and Hurricane Sandy.
Brown had been working at WCCO from 2006 through 2010. Some of her most memorable stories involved the destructive forest fires in the Boundary Waters, the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, and the 35W bridge collapse. She as well reported for CBS News on the historic flooding in tornadoes and Fargo in western Minnesota.
Before joining Minnesota, She served at WIS in Columbia, S.C. There, She reported on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina from Biloxi, covered the 2004 S.C. Democratic presidential primary, and produced an award-winning education series that assisted students get school supplies needed in several South Carolina classrooms.
Besides, She is proud of her Department of Natural Resources firefighting certification, nine marathons, and participation in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program. (The 2010 Twin Cities race was her PR!)

After spending the last two years reporting and serving at WNYW in New York, reporter Heather moved back to WCCO. Brown added that her first day on the job in Minneapolis was on a Monday. She is now working for the CBS affiliate in New York covering the devastation from storms on the East Coast. Heather told TV Spy that she was coming back to the Twin Cities to spend more of her time with family.
