Petty was convicted of attempted first-degree rape in April 1995 for a 1994 assault that occurred when both he and the victim were minors at the age of 16. He was sentenced to 18 to 54 months in state prison. Records show he served just under four years and was released in January of 1999.

In August this year, Minaj and her husband, Petty were sued by Hough, who claimed the celebrity couple harassed and intimidated her to retract her 1994 rape allegations.

Hough told the daytime talk show hosts that the only way to tame her fear was to continue to speak up.

Hough explained that she knew what Petty wanted, she continued that he pushed her down on the bed, and wrestled for her clothes.

Jennifer said after Petty raped her he stood up in the nearby mirror and said: “I’m the man, I’m the man.”

When Petty’s conviction was publicized on social media years later, Nicki Minaj claimed that Hough and Petty were in a relationship and that Petty was 16 at the time. Co-host Adrienne Bailon asked Hough how Minaj’s claims made her feel.

She told the host that Minaj’s statements about Hough made her feel like revisiting it again. The statements were not true and Jennifer said that Petty was the same age as her at 16. Hough felt after listening to Minaj that she was incorrect. However, there was no relationship between Hough and Petty.

In the final chat between Jennifer and Adrienne, Adrienne asked what proposition Jennifer and her lawyer had for Nicki and Kenneth after the incident. Jennifer told her that they wanted to let them know that they were wrong and that they can’t do this to people. She said that although the rape happened a long time ago, Petty did something and the consequences were everlasting and will stick with him for a lifetime.
