John Bryant Biography and Wiki
John Bryant is a weather wizard of Memphis, the maestro of meteorology, the one and only, who is now a chief meteorologist at ABC24/CW30. If you’ve ever wanted to know whether to grab an umbrella or sunscreen, he’s your guy. John is so good at predicting the weather, he’s practically a human barometer. You can catch him giving you the lowdown on the Mid-South’s most accurate forecast weekdays on Local 24 News at 5 pm, 6 pm, 10 pm, and CW 30 News at 9 pm.
But it wasn’t always smooth sailing for John. He started out at WABG-TV in Greenville, MS, where he quickly realized that the weather there was just as unpredictable as the stock market. So he took his talents to WTVA-TV in Tupelo, MS, where he weathered many a storm before finally finding his true calling at WMC-TV in Memphis.
John has had some incredible experiences in his career, like covering Hurricane Katrina for three days straight at a co-affiliate in Hattiesburg, MS. He’s also a pioneer in meteorological technology, being one of the first to use VIPIR to track tornadoes in real-time during a 2008 tornado outbreak.
When John isn’t busy making sure the skies are clear, he’s all about giving back to the community. He supports several charities like the American Cancer Society, the Child Advocacy Center, Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, Youth Villages, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Talk about a heart of gold!
Despite all his accomplishments, John remains a humble Memphian at heart. He loves his city almost as much as he loves the weather (and that’s saying something). He graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Atmospheric Science with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology, and holds both seals from the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association. John, his wife, and three step-children call Memphis home, but rumor has it that he’s working on a way to control the weather so he can have sunny skies all year round. Watch out, Mother Nature!
