The meteorologist left WSB-TV on June 21 where she was a Channel 2 Action News meteorologist for a job at Spectrum News, North Carolina in Charlotte. She started work at her new workplace 8 days later forecasting the weather weekday mornings. Katie quipped that her move was one that was the result of the inspiration to constantly seek excellence and to take on new challenges. She, however, made remarks about the special bond she had with WSB and how they, as a family would miss Atlanta and all the friendships they had made there.
Prior to working at WSB-TV where she joined in June 2014 as a new member of Severe Weather Team 2, she worked at WINK in southwest Florida, where she thoroughly explored her adventurous trait, and WSIL in Southern Illinois.
