Lonnie Quinn is an American meteorologist who has been the lead weather anchor on WCBS-TV in New York City for a long time. Previously, he served as a weather anchor for CBS This Morning Saturday and also makes appearances on sister radio station WCBS (AM).

After a five-year stint at WTVJ, in Miami, FL, Quinn joined WCBS-TV in 2007. Quinn’s television career originally began on ABC’s All My Children as an actress. The experience helped him grow a comfort in front of the camera the helped him perform exceptionally in local and national broadcasting.

After getting into broadcasting, Quinn’s first job was at WVIR in Charlottesville. He worked as a cameraman, but he wanted to get out from behind the camera so he took a chance and became a reporter. Over time, he did so well that it would help pave the way for his career.

His responsibilities soon included covering and anchoring the weekend weathercasts full-time. Quinn reported articles related to the Thomas Jefferson/Sally Hemings dispute and the famous baby transfer at the University of Virginia hospital while in Charlottesville.

The next stop was Miami, FL and it was a turning point in Quinn’s career. He was not only promoted to full-time weather anchor, but also allowed his own unique style to evolve. Quinn has always been a weather enthusiast, and he dislikes the thought of dull weather.

By 2005, Quinn was one of the most prominent on-air personalities in Miami and led the city through history’s most active hurricane season. Quinn worked closely with Max Mayfield at the National Hurricane Center for five years.

He also joined the “Hurricane Hunters” to gather data on a category 5 hurricane as they flew off the coast of North Carolina via the eye of “Isabel.” Quinn himself is a private pilot and holds an FAA meteorology certificate.
