Lori Stokes used to be a really important person on the news. She would tell people what was happening in the world every night at 5, 6, and 10 o’clock on Fox 5 NY WNYW in New York City. Before that, she was on a show called Good Day New York with another lady named Rosanna Scotto.

For a really long time, from 2000 to 2017, she was on a show called Eyewitness News This Morning with a guy named Ken Rosato. They worked together to make the show really good and lots of people watched it.

Lori Stokes Father | Louis Stokes

The father of Lori was a lawyer and a politician who went on to be elected as Ohio’s first black congressman. He served as one of the chairmen of the House intelligence committee during the Cold War period. In the murder cases of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., he was in charge of heading the Special House Investigation. On August 18, 2015, Louis died of brain and lung cancer at his home in Cleveland. At the time of his death, he was 95.

Lori Stokes Career

Lori started her career at the age of 24. She was serving in Illinois as a medical reporter and then for the WCIA station. She had a co-anchoring job in the station and was also a weekend reporter. After working for WCIA, she relocated to North Carolina and started serving for the WBTV station – she worked with them for two years and became popular within the state.

Stokes also worked for WBFF TV in Baltimore as a street and crime reporter and then as WJLA-TV’s lead woman anchor where she stayed for four years. Lori was the first African American woman who spoke on the cable news network while she was working as an anchor for MSNBC.

She moved to New York and started working as a host of “Eyewitness News This Morning” and “Eyewitness News at Noon” on WABC TV I the year 2000. Stokes is mostly famous for her works in these shows and she stayed on this job for 17 years before quitting in August 2017 – it wasn’t easy for her to quit since she spent so much time there so she had to consult her daughters and her mom before she decided to leave WABC. During her career, Lori managed to cover some of the major activities that happened in the US such as the death of John F. Kennedy Jr, and the Columbine High School Massacre. She is currently working as a co-host for “Good Day New York” on WNYW.
