Parker went on to teach English literature at North Charleston and Middleton High Schools after graduating. Lu has received the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor, and has been recognized twice in the South Carolina Congressional Record as an outstanding South Carolinian.
Her first television broadcasting job was as an education reporter and fill-in anchor for WCSC-TV in Charleston, South Carolina. Parker was hired as a weekend anchor and reporter by KABB TV in San Antonio. In the year 2000, Parker was promoted to the main anchor. She took over as host of “Great Day SA” at KENS 5, San Antonio’s top-rated live entertainment morning show, in February 2003.
In January 2005, she relocated to Los Angeles to work as a weekend co-anchor for KTLA’s “KTLA Prime News” with Frank Buckley. Parker began co-anchoring the weekday “KTLA Morning News” with Cher Calvin at 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. in 2007. Parker has been the anchor for KTLA’s 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. newscasts since 2015. She has received numerous Emmy Awards for her work.
