When she was 13 years old, Makhadzi got her start in the music industry by dancing at taxi ranks and earning money from people’s offerings. In 2010, she became a dancer in the musical group Makhirikhiri. She started working on her music career as soon as she quit dancing. Makhadzi released three studio albums on her own: Muvhango (2009), Ndo Tshinya Ni? 2011), as well as Litshani u Ntsala Murahu Rita Dee, her fourth studio album, was released on December 1, 2014. She got Rita Dee Entertainment’s attention in 2015, signed a record deal, and then her album Muhwalo Uya Ndemela came out.

The studio album Kokovha by Makhadzi was released in South Africa on October 16, 2020. On August 6, Kabza De Small teased a joint single with Makhadzi called “Salungano” on YouTube. The single was released on September 2, 2021. On September 3, 2021, her studio album African Queen was released. Kabza De Small, Lady Du, and Cassper Nyovest appear on the album. She was nominated for Best Female Artist in South Africa at the sixth All Africa Music Awards. On March 31, 2022, Pain Ya Jealous was made available. In South Africa, the EP received Gold certification. On October 17, Makhadzi posted an announcement with the caption “#albumloading” that over 30 songs had been recorded from the beginning of January to October.
Her eleventh studio album was supposed to be out on November 4th, but it was moved to November 18th, 2022 instead. In addition to Blaq Diamond, Big Zulu, Penny Penny, Yaba Buluku Boyz, Mr. Brown, and a number of other well-known national artists, the 22-track African Queen 2.0 album was released on November 11, 2022. It rose to the top spot in Botswana.
