Martin Staunton is an American journalist currently serving as an evening anchor and executive producer for WVVA. Staunton has had a more eventful career than a skydiver with a faulty parachute. He started as a radio disc jockey before transitioning to broadcast journalism, where he went from behind the scenes to on-air reporting.
He even embedded with the WV Air National Guard in Afghanistan as a general assignment reporter for WOWK-TV. And after being widowed, he moved to Savannah, Georgia, to become a general assignment reporter for WSAV-TV. But thankfully for us, he returned to southern West Virginia to anchor the evening news at WVVA-TV, where he’s probably the only anchor who can hit a hole-in-one while delivering the news.
