Gonzalez is the weekend anchor of “KRON 4 Morning News Weekend. In addition to his work at KRON 4, Gonzalez is an associate professor in the Broadcast and Electronic Communications Arts department at San Francisco State University.
Additionally, starting 1988 to 1995, Gonzalez was the East Bay Bureau chief for KGO-TV in San Francisco. Previously, he served at KCRA-TV in Sacramento as a general assignment reporter. Moreover, starting 1980 to 1987, he was the producer and host of KCRA’s “De Colores,” monthly public affairs show exploring Latino issues.
As a reporter, Gonzalez has moved all over the world. However, his work has taken him to Central America to explore the impact of anti-American sentiment during the early ‘80s, Vatican City in Rome to profile Pope John Paul II.

Gonzalez’s reporting from the Oakland Cypress Structure during the ‘89 Loma Prieta earthquake contributed to KGO’s Peabody Award for coverage of the quake. Additionally, he has also earned awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.
