Kosinski started working for WIFR in broadcast journalism in Rockford, Illinois while receiving her BA and MA from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Leaving WIFR, she moved to WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, and founded the Piedmont Bureau. In 2001, readers of the town’s arts and culture magazine named her the Best Reporter in Charlotte. She left WSOC-TV for WTVJ in Miami in the fall of 2001. She is a 2003 Craft Recipient of the Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards for reporting on Haitian immigrants and was voted Woman of the Year in 2005 by South Florida Women in Communications.

Kosinski has covered global events such as the War in Afghanistan, European terrorist attempts, international court cases, and the Haiti earthquake in 2010.

In 2005, while covering floods in New Jersey, Kosinski was seen faking a video scene. She was seen paddling in a canoe in the video, in what she believed was deep floodwaters, when two pedestrians walked through the shot showing the water to a depth of just a few inches.
