Kosinski started working for WIFR in broadcast journalism in Rockford, Illinois while receiving her BA and MA from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Leaving WIFR, she moved to WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, and founded the Piedmont Bureau. In 2001, readers of the town’s arts and culture magazine named her the Best Reporter in Charlotte. She left WSOC-TV for WTVJ in Miami in the fall of 2001. She is a 2003 Craft Recipient of the Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards for reporting on Haitian immigrants and was voted Woman of the Year in 2005 by South Florida Women in Communications.

In 2009, during NBC News’ special coverage of the 2008 U.S. presidential election, she received a national Emmy award for live reporting. Kosinski was named a foreign correspondent in 2010 and moved to London from NBC’s Southeast Bureau. She became CNN’s White House correspondent in 2014.
