After his first arrival in New York City, Miller served as National Correspondent and BET Nightly News replacement anchor.

Miller worked as an intern for Nightline and the Minneapolis Star Tribune in 1988. She published editions of the Los Angeles Times for the South Bay and Valley from 1989 to 1990. Between 1990 to 1993 she worked in Santa Ana, California as Assignment Editor, Assistant, and Reporter for Orange County Newschannel. She was a reporter and a Weekend Morning anchor on WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina from 1993 to 1994.
