Nick Carboni Biography and Wiki
Meet Nick Carboni, the man, the myth, the sports director at WCNC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina. When he’s not running around covering college, prep, and professional sports, he’s probably nursing his bruised ego from being the only Syracuse grad not rooting for the Orange. Nope, Nick is all about his hometown UConn Huskies and the Boston Red Sox (and some mysterious NFL team he refuses to name).
Nick’s passion for sports storytelling started early on when he was a ball boy for his dad’s high school football team. Unfortunately, his own playing days were cut short due to too many injuries and phone calls from his worried mom. But hey, it’s all worth it now that he gets to cover Super Bowls, World Series, Sweet 16s, and SEC football games.
Before landing in the Queen City, Nick was the Sports Director at WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee, and a Sports Anchor/Reporter in Springfield, Missouri. He even got his start as a sports writer for The Hartford Courant back in his home state of Connecticut.
With three Edward R. Murrow Awards under his belt, Nick is no stranger to telling compelling sports stories. But he knows the best ones come from the local community, and he’s excited to continue uncovering those gems here in Charlotte. And who knows, maybe he’ll even catch a glimpse of Mr. Hornet himself, Michael Jordan, in the stands.
