Oskido Career

After volunteering to perform at Razzmatazz when the scheduled DJ failed to show up, Oskido’s career took off. By lending him his vinyls, the late Ian Sigola helped him become successful in the club scene. He released the cassette compilations “Mixmaster” and “Big Jam” after reworking songs in the studio and developing his own sound before being introduced to Bruce “Dope” Sebitlo, a South African musician who later collaborated with Oskido in the Brothers of Peace band.

Between 1994 and 2004, Oskido and Sebitlo released and produced eight albums under the Brothers of Peace label. These albums included Makwerekwere, a kwaito classic that discouraged Xenophobia against foreigners, Traffic Cop, the groundbreaking Project A, and Zabalaza: Albums by Project B, pioneers of Afro-house. When Louie Vega licensed and remixed the title track for the album “Zabalaza,” it was played on dance floors all over the world. He also had an impact on the formation of Mafikizolo, Bongo Muffin, and Trompies. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 13th Metro FM Music Awards. He and Msaki released the single “Sizophelelaphi” on July 23, 2021.
