Peter Buffett Career
In the early 1980s, Buffett started out as a musician in San Francisco, California. He recorded and made albums for local artists there. Additionally, he was hired by advertising agencies to create logos and commercials, including those for CNN and MTV, both of which were new to cable television at the time.
In 1987, Buffett signed with the new age music recording company Narada Productions. He collaborated with John Barry on The Scarlet Letter’s soundtrack and the “Fire Dance” scene in Dances with Wolves. He moved to Milwaukee in 1989 and put out One by One, his first album with Narada. His score for the CBS miniseries 500 Nations was released in 1994. Buffett released a Christmas CD in 1996 called Star of Wonder with Celtic harpist Kim Robertson and arranger Eric Segnitz.
The 1999 documentary Wisconsin featured Buffett’s score: The Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award for Best Soundtrack was given to An American Portrait. Spirit: The Seventh Fire, which Buffett co-wrote with Jody Ripplinger and Frank Anderson in 2004, a new version of his previous show. In 2009, Buffett started using his Ning-based social networking community to release exclusive singles.
