Despite his lack of qualifications, he was able to secure a job for himself by offering to work for free for the first six months in order to earn his stay. He eventually rose to the position of General Manager at Logiquest.

In 2003, Herjavec founded The Herjavec Group as a security solutions Integrator, reseller, and managed service provider. Herjavec Group is one of Canada’s fastest-growing technology companies and the largest provider of information technology security in the country. The company has grown from three employees and $400,000 in sales in 2003 to 200 million in annual revenue today. Herjavec was phished as the company CEO in October 2017 by “email prankster” James Linton, who invited him to a toga party. The bogus account was later replicated in official financial projection documents.

Herjavec applied for a job selling IBM mainframe emulation boards at Logiquest while between productions. He was completely unqualified for the position, but he persuaded the company to hire him by offering to work for free for six months. During his “free” time, Herjavec worked as a waiter to help pay the rent. He eventually rose through the ranks to become the General Manager of Logiquest. He founded BRAK Systems, a Canadian Integrator of Internet security software, from his basement after being fired from Logiquest in 1990. BRAK Systems was sold to AT&T Canada (now Allstream Inc.) for $30.2 million in March 2000. He later became Vice President of Sales at Ramp Network, which was acquired by Nokia for $225 million.
