Steffi Lee is an American Capitol Correspondent covering the Texas Legislature and other statewide topics for a dozen stations in Texas. She arrived at Nexstar’s Austin Bureau in October of 2017. Prior to moving to the Lone Star State, she served in Iowa and Alaska. Lee then worked as a general assignment reporter in Cedar Rapids prior to moving back to Des Moines to launch Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Capitol Bureau.

Prior to moving to the Lone Star State, she served in Iowa and Alaska. In Iowa, she covered the Iowa Legislature and gained extensive knowledge about public policy issues. During her time in Iowa also lined up with both the 2012 and 2016 presidential campaigns and she had the chance to cover the Iowa caucuses and interview presidential candidates.
She got her began in Des Moines, Iowa, serving as a reporter, editor, and photographer part-time while finishing up her senior year at Simpson College. Sheffi then worked as a general assignment reporter in Cedar Rapids prior to moving back to Des Moines to launch Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Capitol Bureau. She has earned several awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association.
Currently, she was selected for a 2019 fellowship for training on vaccinations reporting through the National Press Foundation. Steffi has also trained with leaders of the National Press Photographer’s Association to hone her skills as a multimedia journalist who does it all.
In her free time, she leads Power Yoga and Yoga Sculpt classes – the best feeling is getting to sweat as a community before the sun rises. Steffi grew up in Southern California and is proud to call Texas home.
