Sylvia Perez is an American news anchor based in Chicago, she currently anchors the weekend editions and special segments of Good Day Chicago on WFLD-TV (FOX 32) since October 2016.
Perez co-anchored the 11 AM newscast on Chicago’s WLS-TV (ABC 7) from 1989 until 2013, together with Linda Yu. She was also the station’s “Healthbeat” reporter covering daily health and medical investigative stories for the 4 PM and 10 PM newscasts.

She started her first career in ABC7 in June 1989. Before joining ABC7, she had worked in Houston and Amarillo of Texas, Denver of Colorado, and Lawton of Oklahoma in the US. Perez had able to win various awards for her commendable reporting and presentation as an anchor. Her core interest was health reporting while she was working for the KPRC-TV which was affiliated to NBC in Houston and similarly in Chicago as well.
Then, she joined WLS-TV in Chicago and working almost 24 years for the station until June 2013 as an uninterrupted long-standing professional career. She was also covering the medical and health updates, and news as well as investigative stories and events in the news bulletins. She had created and developed the concept of a health care program and broadcasted the “Health Beat” program. Perez had contributed as a core team member, speaker, and Illustrator among Chicago viewers and her fans.
