Lane is a member of the National Weather Association and received her National Weather Association Seal of Approval. However, when Tara was 8 years old and living in Memphis, Tenn., a tornado ripped the roof off her home and caused severe damage to her community.
Unfortunately, that dramatic event sparked her interest in meteorology. However, Tara started her broadcasting career at WITN in Washington, NC, as a producer and weather anchor. While there, she covered the fury of Hurricane Floyd, one of the worst storms in North Carolina’s history.
Prior to moving to Charlotte in 2001, Tara became a Meteorologist at the start-up 24-hour cable news station News 14 Carolina (now Spectrum News), where she served for the next 15 years. However, her time there involved many hours of life, continuous coverage of everything from hurricanes to winter storms. Additionally, Tara spent a year in Columbus, Ohio at NBC4 before returning to Charlotte and joining the team at FOX 46.
