Tim Willcox is a journalist from Britain who used to work for BBC News. He was in charge of presenting news programs on BBC World News and the BBC News Channel.

One of the most famous things he did was report live from Chile during the Copiapó mining accident. He was also the anchor for the BBC’s live daytime coverage during the early days of the Cairo January 2011 Egyptian revolution.

He did detailed live coverage of the operation to get the trapped miners back to the surface in October 2010 and interviewed President Sebastián Piñera of Chile. Willcox has been charged with antisemitism for his on-air remarks twice. Willcox reported on 8 November 2014 that the Labor Party may lose support from Jewish sources because “all of these famous Jewish faces will be against the mansion tax very much.” The tax applies to a Labor plan for a supplementary property tax worth $3.5 million or more.

Following a rally of solidarity on 11 January 2015 after 17 people were killed in terrorist attacks in Paris, many of them Jews, Willcox, while interviewing a Jewish woman who explained that Jews live in fear in France, interrupted her saying, “But many, many, many opponents of Israel’s policies will indicate that the Palestinians still suffer greatly from Jewish hands.”

Many criticized this topic, including historian and BBC presenter Simon Schama, Jewish Chronicle editor Stephen Pollard, and the Movement Against Anti-Semitism, for assigning all Jews collective responsibility for Israel’s actions.
