A former associate professor of emergency medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Uche Blackstock is a Black American doctor. The CEO and Founder of Advancing Health Equity are Uche.
In order to give healthcare organizations the resources they need to treat every patient fairly, Advancing Health Equity collaborates with them.
Blackstock used social media throughout the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic to express her worries and experiences. As a doctor focusing on racial health inequities and disparities on the front lines contaminated by the epidemic.

Dr. Dale Blackstock, a single mother, was Dr. Uche’s primary caregiver. Dr. Dale, a black woman in medicine, had to traverse the world against all odds.
In her family, she was the first to enroll in college. At the age of 47, Dr. Dale Blackstock passed away. She led a wonderful life and served as a good example for her kids. This helped her daughter Dr. Uche advance in her career.
Oni Blackstock, Dr. Uche’s twin sister, is someone they have grown up with. One is an HIV expert as well as a primary care physician.
She also serves as the New York City Department of Health’s associate commissioner for the Bureau of HIV. The zeal and spirit of their mother inspired them both.

Dr. Uche Blackstock Medicine
Blackstock worked as an emergency physician and was appointed as an assistant professor at the New York University School of Medicine in July 2010.
Less than 2% of American doctors at the time were black women. She was appointed the university’s director of ultrasound content shortly after that, in 2012.
Blackstock created and implemented a point-of-care ultrasonography program for medical students in this capacity.
Blackstock was given the responsibility of creating and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for Black, Latinx, and Indigenous faculty at the university when she was appointed Faculty Director for Recruitment, Retention, and Inclusion in the Office of Diversity Affairs at New York University School of Medicine in October 2017.
Due to the hostile environment for Black trainees and faculty, Blackstock departed NYU School of Medicine in 2019. In order to elaborate further, she penned an op-ed in January 2020.
Her primary excuses were a hostile workplace, sexism, racism, and a lack of promotion. She has urged academic medical centers to recognize and address the effects of racism on healthcare delivery.
She was given the opportunity to devote even more time to Advancing Health Equity, an organization she had just started.
