Uma Devi Pemmaraju is an American anchor and host on the cable network Fox News Channel. Pemmaraju, who was raised in San Antonio, Texas, is currently a host/anchor for New York’s Fox News Channel, “America’s Entertainment Headquarters w/Uma Pemmaraju.”

She was born Uma Devi Pemmaraju on 31 March 1958 in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India, and grew up in San Antonio, Texas, United States. She is 62 years old as of 2020.

They moved from Rajahmundry, India, along with her parents at the age of 6 to San Antonio. They were the only San Antonio Indians, then in Texas, and one of the only Indian families. Her father was invited to Texas to direct a new foundation for population studies as a research scientist specializing in birth control.

Pemmaraju is the anchor of Um Pemmaraju at America’s News Headquarters. In October 1996 Pemmaraju joined Fox News Channel and was part of the original team. She interviewed a variety of famous people during her tenure at Fox News, including the Dalai Lama, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Joel Osteen, Carly Simon, Donald Trump, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sarah Palin. Pemmaraju also works for Bloomberg News aside from working at Fox News.
Prior to starting at Fox News, Pemmaraju worked at KENS-TV, the San Antonio Express-News newspaper, KTVT-11 in Dallas, WMAR-TV in Baltimore, WLVI in Boston, and WBZ-TV in Boston.
Her interest in journalism stemmed from family ties because her grandfather was a newspaper publisher in South India. As a child, she used to maintain a daily diary where she listened to television and wrote about world affairs.
She worked for a local newspaper and television station, as a teenager and through college, and eventually became a reporter in Dallas and Baltimore.

Uma Pemmaraju Awards and Honors
In 1996 and 1997, Boston magazine named Pemmaraju “Boston’s Best Anchor.” She has received numerous other awards, including multiple Emmy awards, the Texas AP Reporting Award, the Woman of Achievement Award for America’s Big Sisters Group, and the Women in Communications Matrix Award.
In a strange series of circumstances, she won an Emmy as a reporter for a story she did on an almost drowning infant who was saved from the edge. She broke the news of the decision of Michael Dukakis to enter the Presidential race in 1988.
