However, in 2002, Ruff took over as the sports director and weekday sports anchor. Ruff began his career at KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota, where he served from 1982-1985 as the weekend sports anchor, weekday sports reporter, and sports photographer. He has also received numerous awards for his reporting and anchoring.
