Yemi Alade Woman of Steel

On August 30, 2019, Alade released her fourth studio album, Woman of Steel. The album is, in Alade’s words, “a buffet with different kinds of meals and drinks.” She gave her album “Woman of Steel” as a nod to her tough exterior and her desire to be treated with the same respect as men. In addition, she acquired the title after realizing that she is her own superhero. Woman of Steel is an Afrobeat record that also has highlife and R&B elements.

The album focuses primarily on love, sociopolitics, and poverty. The album, which Alade said would be released on 30 August 2019, was recorded for three years. Alade is depicted on the album cover wearing a headdress based on the Nefertiti Bust artwork. Rick Ross, Funke Akindele, Angélique Kidjo, and Duncan Mighty are among the artists on Woman of Steel. Alade sang that some of the songs on the album were recorded in August while others were recorded the previous year in an interview with The Star newspaper.
