Brown served as the public address announcer in 1997. In 1988, he worked as a weekend sports anchor at WFMJ-TV in Youngstown, Ohio.
He worked as the play-by-play announcer for the Pirates’ Class ASS club in Buffalo, New York, for five seasons from 1983 and 1993. On WGR radio, Greg also presented a sports discussion program.
Greg worked as the color analyst for the Buffalo Bills for three seasons, from 1991 to 1993. For the Bill games, he presented pre-and post-game shows. In each of his three seasons as a broadcaster, the Bills made it to the Super Bowl.
He also served as the Buffalo Bulls’ basketball referee. After each victory for the pirates, he is renowned for calling “Raise the Jolly Roger.” It’s similar to how other broadcasters, like Lanny Frattare and Bob Prince, would conclude each Pirate victory with a catchphrase: “We had ’em all the way!” for Bob and “There was no mistake about it!” for Lanny.
