Gina Gaston, born on January 14, 1966, in Oxnard, CA, is a television journalist and presently serves as the lead anchor for KTRK-TV in Houston, Texas. She first joined the channel in 1992 to co-anchor the morning news program with Tom Koch. Later in 1999, she left the channel to host an afternoon show called HomePage on MSNBC, along with Ashleigh Banfield and Mika Brzezinski.
The trio was referred to as “the Powerpuff Girls of journalism” by Entertainment Weekly. After leaving MSNBC in 2000, Gaston came back to channel 13 in 2001 to take up the responsibility of anchoring and reporting the 6 and 10pm newscast, replacing long-time anchor Shara Fryer. Prior to joining KTRK-TV, she worked at different news stations such as WTSP in Tampa, Florida, WHTM-TV in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and KLTV in Tyler, Texas.

She started working at ABC13 in 1992 as a co-anchor for the 6 a.m. newscast. Later in 1999, she left the station and went to work for MSNBC in New York, She came back to ABC13 in 2001 and has been a face of Eyewitness News ever since, co-anchoring the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts.
