During the 2008 Presidential campaign, Kovaleski covered the events in Missouri and interviewed Democratic candidate Barack Obama as he traveled through the state. Jennifer also covered the April 2011 tornado outbreak in Raleigh, Hurricane Irene’s arrival on the Carolina coast, and the federal campaign finance trial of former Presidential candidate John Edward.
Jennifer’s interest in journalism began early in life. She was part of an undercover investigation as an 11-year-old for a Houston television station in which she wore a concealed camera to an Astro Arena rave party and captured on-scene drug overdoses by underage kids, as well as other on-scene action. The investigation discovered a lack of overall security at raves, which resulted in the overdoses.
